Estimator/Project Manager

Job Summary

Pro Caissons Ltd. is looking to hire a Civil Engineering graduate interested in a career in heavy civil construction. Reporting directly to the Managing Partners, this individual will work on both estimation and project management.

As a key member of our team, this role has an interesting combination of two critical functions that contribute to the success of our business. As an Estimator you will assist with all aspects of pricing a project including reviewing drawings, specifications and geotechnical reports and providing the cost of the labour, equipment and material to complete the work. As a Project Manager, success is in the details. You will plan, organize, schedule and manage the people, resources and scope of each project. The goal is for the successful candidate to grow and develop over time within Pro Caissons and advance into a more senior level.

Key Responsibilities

· Proactively work with the Operations Manager and site superintendents to coordinate various projects

· Assist in preparing thorough monthly progress certificates

· Attend site walks and meetings to review all conditions before the tendering process

· Attend project-specific site meetings

· Provide all necessary documentation to field staff in a timely manner and assist in removing any obstacles that will impact overall schedule

· Grow and maintain strong relationships with all team members, consultants, and clients

· Review subcontractor and supplier pricing and recommend best options

· Must be able to complete take-offs from the construction/shoring drawings

· Ability to read and understand geotechnical reports and borehole logs and drawings

· Assist in design process, submittals, material ordering and pre-job planning

· Assemble pre-job reports for site superintendents as well as execute internal pre-job meetings

· Develop plans and strategies with the project teams to increase profitability on project execution

Requirements

· Civil Engineering degree (B. Eng) is strongly preferred; working toward a P. Eng

· 2-3 years of experience in the shoring/foundation industry or related construction field

· Proficient in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Project

· Must be able to read and understand construction drawings, specifications, and contracts

· Valid Class “G” Driver License required
