CASE MANAGER, RECREATION PROGRAM YOUTH OPPORTUNITIES DIVISION CITY OF WORCESTER

The City of Worcester seeks qualified applicants for a Case Manager, Recreation Program (Programming Lead, Worcester Recreation) for the Youth Opportunities Division within the Department of Health and Human Services. Under the direction of the Program Coordinator, the position will work collaboratively with the Youth Worker Coaches to ensure the Recreation Worcester Program staff have a positive working and learning experience at the summer program sites. Recreation Worcester is a summer program run by the Division of Youth Opportunities that employs inner City youth between the ages of 15-24 and the Case Manager will maintain a case load of assigned youth to provide them with daily supervision and support.

ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS:
Establish and maintain a positive working relationship at the Recreation Worcester worksites with Youth Worker Coaches (Site Coordinators), Assistant Site Coordinators, and Youth Workers
Conduct Recreation Worcester orientation and facilitate work readiness trainings for youth staff
Conduct weekly visits to Recreation Worcester worksites and when necessary, assist with problem solving and escalate issues to Program Coordinator
Communicate with youth staff weekly to ensure a successful job experience
Develop, implement, and complete Work-Based Learning Plans for all assigned youth
Conduct reflection activities and end-of-program surveys to assist with program improvement and skill development
Meet with DYO team to provide weekly status reports on the work sites and assigned youth
Participate in staff training
Assist when necessary with the distribution of payroll, collection and organization of time sheets
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to be detail oriented
Demonstrated ability to supervise staff
Demonstrated leadership experience and have the ability to motivate staff
Ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse populations
Ability to be a team player and collectively solve problems
Ability to work with youth ages 15-24 of diverse backgrounds.
Ability to multitask in a busy, fast-paced environment
Familiarity with Worcester communities
Ability to receive constructive feedback from supervisor
Ability to travel daily to different Recreation Worcester sites
Ability to build relationships and networking skills with students, colleagues, and community members.
Ability to work with youth with special educational or emotional needs
Proficient in Microsoft Office
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Associate's degree in Human Services or other related field; OR,
High school Diploma or equivalent with one (1) year of related experience
Experience with staff supervision
Experience working with children and families from diverse cultural, socioeconomic backgrounds and abilities.
Valid Driver's License and access to reliable transportation
Must pass a criminal background check (CORI & SORI)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
One (1) year of experience facilitating out of school activities and programming
Two (2) years of experience with staff or program participant supervision
Two (2) years of administrative experience

SALARY: $17.50 hourly full-time, non-benefitted. Candidates to be selected upon funding determination.
