DOOR SERVICE TECHNICIAN

Job Description

Overview:

We seek an experienced Door Service Technician with a strong background in door and hardware knowledge, installation experience, welding skills, and woodworking expertise. The ideal candidate will be responsible for adjusting, repairing, and installing various types of doors, frames, and hardware components.

Responsibilities:

Door Installation and Adjustment:

-Install new doors, frames, and hardware according to specifications and industry standards.

-Adjust existing doors to ensure proper alignment, function, and security.

Hollow Metal Frame Work:

-Relocate and modify hollow metal frame preps as required for new installations or renovations.

-Perform welding tasks related to metal frame adjustments and installations.

Wood Door Repair and Preparation:

1. Repair damaged wood doors by replacing components, fixing hinges, or addressing structural issues.

2. Prepare wood doors for installation or repair, including sanding, planing, and applying finishes.

3. Hardware Installation and Maintenance:

-Remove and replace hardware components such as locks, handles, hinges, and closers.

-Ensure all hardware is installed correctly and functions smoothly.

4. Staining and Finishing:

-Apply stains, varnishes, or paints to wood doors to achieve desired finish and color.

-Perform touch-ups and refinishing as needed to maintain the appearance of doors.

5. Documentation and Reporting:

-Maintain accurate records of work performed, including measurements, materials used, and service reports.

-Report any issues or concerns related to door installations or repairs to management.

Qualifications:

1. Experience:

-Minimum 3 years of experience as a Door Service Technician or similar role.

-Proven experience with door and hardware installations, adjustments, and repairs.

2. Skills:

-Strong knowledge of door types, materials, and hardware components.

-Proficient in welding techniques related to metal door frames.

-Woodworking skills, including carpentry, sanding, staining, and finishing.

-Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.

3. Certifications:

-Welding certifications (preferred but not required).

-Any relevant industry certifications or licenses.

4. Physical Requirements:

-Ability to lift and maneuver heavy doors and equipment.

-Comfortable working at heights and in various weather conditions.
