Principal Network Security Research Engineer

Arlington, VA / Hazelwood, MO / Huntington Beach, CA

Responsibilities:

Conduct research in the field of networking and cyber security.

Research projects to develop new concepts in tactical mobile ad-hoc network protocols, sensor protocols, airborne network overlays, or network management technologies

Prove the feasibility of new network technologies

Build of prototypes to demonstrate the feasibility of the technologies

Test and evaluate research prototypes in relevant environment

Develop, implement, and sustain product security and resiliency throughout the requirements, design, build, test, production, operations, and support lifecycle.

Develop and enhance system requirements and architectures for product security to meet all applicable certification and customer requirements.

Ensure security of facilities, equipment, tools, data, networks, and resources used for product: design, development, build, test, storage, delivery, operations, and support.

Define and identify product security requirements for suppliers of components and subsystems for integration into company products and services.

Coordinate with governments, customers, suppliers, and industry to identify risks and improve industry and regulatory security standards and requirements for programs and interfacing systems.

Conduct research and development activities resulting in innovative solutions.

Advise customers on maintaining product security and certification, including security consequences of modifying products and services

Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

3+ years of experience with network systems

3+ years of experience with network protocols and/or routing table definition

Experience programming in C/C++, Python and shell scripting

Preferred Qualifications:

5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

10 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience with network systems programming and Linux kernel programming

Experience with network device drivers, routing protocols, transport protocols, network-oriented middleware, wireless or satellite networking systems, networking for embedded systems, tactical communications systems, network management, Software Defined Networking, Quality of Service, or traffic engineering

Excellent understanding of TCP (Transport Control Protocol) / IP (Internet Protocol) networks

Experience leading projects, interfacing with customers, and demonstrating an ability to deliver high quality implementation, testing, and documenting results

Experience working with leadership, peers, and internal and external customers to understand and drive requirements

Knowledge of real-time target environments, real-time software domains, real-time software architectures and design methodologies, and system hardware.
