Network Technician

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Network Technician to work in our Computer Engineering department. Our team works a 4x10 schedule located out of our Materials and Fuels Complex with every Friday off.

Responsibilities Include:

You will install, maintain, modify, test, and repair computer systems and information networks. Prepare project time and cost estimates, design, test, modify, document, and maintain complex network-based systems. Ensure system security is maintained.

Design and build, operate and maintain networks.

Coordinate, oversee, and help deploy new hardware, software, circuits, and fiber paths.

Perform testing using specialized optical testing tools and monitoring software’s before start-up, during, and post deployments to ensure the highest quality of work is performed and addresses any issues and concerns that arise in the deployment.

Monitor the network using monitoring software’s to ensure that the network is always in a healthy and available state.

Provide expertise in equipment failures to determine the cause and recommend corrective actions.

Use test, measurement, and diagnostic skills/equipment to determine the cause of malfunctions and category of maintenance required.

Restore services promptly to minimize downtime and influence on the users.

Help with the creating and establishment of work standards, methods, and control for preventative and unscheduled maintenance actions.

Provide technical expertise in the closer of work orders and tickets.

Other tasks as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

Graduation from high school or equivalent and 2-4 years of experience.

Operate standard office equipment and other technical equipment.

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

Preferred

Experience with LAN/WAN networks

Knowledge of database administration.

Knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles

Job Information:

Salary Grade: TS0200 - 160 – ($50,796 - $81,252)/TS0300- 170 – ($57,108 - $91,440)

TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
