As a Storm and Sanitary Sewer Project Specialist, you will often be the initial point of contact for the community, embodying these values and fostering meaningful connections.

The City of Hillsboro is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented individual to join our Public Works Storm and Sanitary Sewer Division. As a Project Specialist, you'll collaborate closely with our Engineering, Environmental Services, and Operations sections, alongside administrative professionals, to streamline activities within our storm and sanitary sewer utilities.

What You'll Be Doing:

As a vital member of our team, you'll collaborate closely with engineering, operations, plan reviewers, and administrative professionals to efficiently organize and coordinate activities within the storm and sanitary sewer utility. Your daily tasks will include attending meetings, contributing to the development of outreach materials, managing data entry for permit intakes, and ensuring the completion of necessary forms.

Serving as a liaison between engineering and operations, you'll facilitate seamless task completion and ensure projects are executed by the appropriate personnel and within established timelines. You'll play a crucial role in fostering understanding between the community and administration, identifying, and connecting individuals with the information they seek.

Additionally, you'll coordinate events such as Public Works Day and large team meetings. Strong writing and proofreading skills are essential, as you'll be responsible for crafting and refining technical documents to ensure clarity and comprehension across diverse audiences. Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Coordinate and monitor private maintenance agreements.

Collaborate with sections on project timelines, ensuring milestones are met and providing progress updates.

Prepare outreach and communications materials for both print and online platforms.

Proofread and edit documents for accuracy and clarity.

Coordinate council memos and schedule meetings.

Ensure interdisciplinary collaboration to prevent duplication of work.

Qualities for Success:

Exceptional communication skills and a knack for thriving in collaborative environments with diverse stakeholders.

Genuine passion for environmental conservation and community service.

Strong, demonstrated administrative background coupled with outstanding customer service skills.

Experience in reviewing and proofreading technical documents, such as contracts, reports, and presentations.

Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, InDesign, Outlook, etc.)

Good organizational skills and familiarity with SharePoint filing systems.

Graphic design experience is a plus.

Acceptable Experience and Training

Associate degree in Science, Applied Science, General Studies, Communications, Journalism or a closely related field, and 3 years’ experience related to area of assignment; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
