Global Head Bank Strategy and Relations Group

In the rapidly evolving Financial Services industry, core to Bank Strategy is developing strong partnerships with both internal clients and Service Providers to ensure long term strategic objectives are met across the global complex. Determining the priorities of internal clients, in conjunction with the alignment of enterprise strategic priorities is critical to positioning objectives/goals with our Service Providers. In this role you will lead multiple teams including global and regional relationships managers as well as teams responsible for the governance and oversight of the performance of these relationships in ensuring the outcome of these strategic agendas. This role will also be responsible for leading a global RFP.

Core Responsibilities:

Hires, evaluates, and supervises crew. Provides guidance and training as necessary to develop crew. Sets performance standards, reviews performance, and makes informed compensation decisions in accordance with all applicable Human Resources policies and procedures.

Oversees a team focused on the strategic management and governance/oversight of Vanguard’s enterprise-wide global Service Providers across the Funds, Corporate and Treasury ecosystem.

Develops working relationships with internal partners across the enterprise to ensure a successful strategic approach to meet client, business and Service Provider needs.

Develops and maintains expert knowledge of Vanguard funds, products, and services. Anticipates and plans for changes in the Financial Services industry and the legal, tax, and regulatory landscape globally.

Drives solutions across the Bank Strategy ecosystem that leverages various experts across Vanguard. Enables Relationship Managers to develop long-lasting and strategically oriented solutions for clients.

In partnership with internal clients, determines and implements short and long-term strategies for global Service Provider relationships. Negotiates new contract terms and prices, measures, and monitors bank performance in support of critical operations.

Evaluates bank capabilities relative to new and emerging product and service initiatives. Identifies opportunities to leverage technology to enhance and improve processes.

Leads daily operations teams with complex and critical outputs. Manages and resolves daily escalated, high risk/high impact issues. Responsible for the team outputs and meeting team goals. Ensures operational efficiency and effectiveness within the unit.

Oversees significant fund-direct and corporate spend between Vanguard and bank service providers. Secures funding for fund and corporate borrowing needs.

Responsible for the oversight of Vanguard’s Service Providers which includes Executive and Board level reporting across the globe.

Represents Vanguard at industry forums.

Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum of ten years related work experience, with at least five years of broad banking experience. Supervisory experience preferred.

Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Graduate degree preferred.

CPA, CTP, or other financial designation preferred.
