Summary

The Cullen Eye Institute of Baylor College of Medicine, Department of Ophthalmology is seeking a full-time faculty member to join our faculty group practice at the rank of Assistant Professor. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background and have passionate interest in research or teaching. Applicants must be board eligible or certified and have completed a formal residency. Primary responsibilities for this position will include clinical, educational, and research duties at the Cullen Eye Institute and affiliated hospitals. There will be ample teaching and training opportunities with residents and medical students.

The Alkek Eye Center is a multi-specialty, high volume clinical operation. The Optometrist at Alkek Eye Center will examine patients to determine the nature and degree of vision problems and/or eye disease. The Optometrist's primary duties will include, but are not limited to: examining patients and performing various tests to determine visual acuity and perception; prescribing eyeglasses, corrective lenses, and other vision aids or therapeutic procedures to correct or conserve vision; consulting with patients and referring them to Ophthalmologists or other health care practitioners if additional medical treatment is determined necessary; studying eye diseases and how to prevent and cure them; other duties as assigned.

A Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) is required. Candidates must possess a current Texas Optometry License. Residency trained Optometrists are preferred.
