General Description/Purpose: The Layup Operator will provide a high level of service to ensure employee, customer, team member, and vendor satisfaction.

The Layup Operator does this by color and grain matching of individual boards and staves to achieve optimum visual quality of highly visible furniture components such as tops, ends, and shelves.

The Layup Operator completes these functions in the manufacture of furniture parts and pieces.

Job Responsibilities: Identify a variety of wood species products including but not limited to the following wood species: Cherry, Mahogany, Oak, Maple, Birch, and Veneers and make grade related decisions on a daily basis based on established Stickley standards Able to match individual boards/staves by color and grain on a daily basis Reports to their supervisor for direction daily and promptly report any questions or problems.

Read, comprehend, and full fill production tickets and print scan tags as needed Read and Interpret part drawings Inspect parts for quality and dimensional accuracy Perform preventive maintenance as required by preventative maintenance sheets and correctly log any and all preventive maintenance done with any corresponding machine problems and or information Set up work in the safest, most efficient manner per specifications and when no other jobs are noted as needed line up jobs in a manner that minimizes setup time Operate assigned machines and mechanical equipment/machines to produce required parts and pieces and achieve defined production goals Essential Knowledge, Skills: Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts such as adding, counting, subtracting, multiplying, dividing and knowledge of weights and measure, utilize measuring tools such as tape measures and other measuring devices to sufficiently handle job tasks Understand and respond appropriately to basic customer and employee inquiries Read, write and communicate using English language sufficient to perform job functions (Other preferences will be given for special language skills when there is a business need) Knowledge of company's mission, purpose, goals and the role of every employee in achieving each of them Ability to operate facility equipment as required in assigned area (including but not limited to LRT, telephone, cutting equipment, sanding equipment, presses, hand tools, painting and staining equipment, computers, copiers, fax machines, forklifts, pallet jacks, electric lifts, etc.) Satisfactorily complete all Stickley training requirements (including but not limited to departmental training, annual Hazardous Material and environmental training, Forklift Certification/, Grade Training (lumber) etc.) Ability to interpret company documents and literature and UPC information The compensation range provided in this job posting is a general guideline.
