Position: Intern - School & Teacher Support Type: Unpaid Internship Schedule: Part-time, unpaid position from Monday, September 9, 2024- December 6, 2024.

Location: Ohio History Center Reports to: Manager, School & Teacher Support Application Period: Applications will be accepted until June 14, 2024.

About Ohio History Connection: The Ohio History Connection, formerly the Ohio Historical Society, is a statewide history organization with the mission to spark discovery of Ohio's stories.

Chartered in 1885, the OHC carries out history services for Ohio and its citizens focused on preserving and sharing the state's history.

This includes housing the state historic preservation office, the official state archives, local history office and managing more than 50 sites and museums across Ohio.

Summary: The School & Teacher Support Department is responsible for K-12 programs we offer across the state, such as Ohio as America, Ohio History Day, Museum in a Box, Virtual Learning Experiences, and Immersive Programs.

Working with our museum educators, this internship position will assist with program creation, facilitation and outreach.

This person will be a dynamic presenter and unafraid to engage with students and teachers.

The work is in a fast-paced environment Essential Functions: Develop, implement and facilitate engaging and innovative humanities-based activities, lessons, and programs, including, but not limited to: curriculum; historical thinking activities; workshops; field trips and virtual learning programs.

Write grade-appropriate content to be used by more than 20,000 students across the state.

Assist outreach and communication efforts by creating content for our newsletter (3,000+ subscribers), education blog and social media.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects to bring history to life for Ohio and national students.

Required Education, Skills, Experience: Must be enrolled in an academic program OR a recent graduate from an academic program (within one year) Majors in Education, History and Communication are preferred.

Experience with Microsoft Suite and Google Products is needed.

Required Competencies: Works well both independently and with and in support of colleagues to complete work.

Demonstrates a potential to communicate well in written and verbal communications, including informal mediums like email and meetings.

Other Requirements: Must complete a background check and internship onboarding paperwork Must create and account, log internships hours and sign up for internship shifts via Track It Forward Must be available to attend fall intern welcome day on Monday, September 9 2024 Must present at the fall internship summit Must attend professional development opportunities and meetings when requested Education and Experience Outcomes: Knowledge of museum education best practices and procedures.
