Essential Functions:

The CDL Driver - Paving drives commercial vehicles equipped to transport a variety of materials from the job site to the yard as well as assists the crew with paving duties.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Assists crew leader in construction, reconstruction, and maintenance work

CDL Driver drives commercial vehicle for the paving division as well as assist with raking asphalt.

Works with specialized equipment including jackhammers, rotary drills, power actuated fasteners and other industry tools

Signals equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials

Works safely around backhoes, excavators, rollers and dump truck

Cleans and prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards

Maintains paperwork during the day including DVIR and driver’s logbook

Ensures the truck has current licenses, tags, permits, and proof of insurance Success Factors:

Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods, often under adverse climatic conditions.

Ability to lift up to 80 lbs multiple times during a work shift

Ability to climb, dig, work in tight spaces, on uneven surfaces, walking, stooping, and kneeling

Ability to understand and follow specific oral and written instructions

Ability to work well independently and as a part of a team with co-workers

Ability to pass motor vehicle, criminal background check, and comply with drug-free workplace policy

English usage sufficient to keep records, place orders, and prepare simple narrative reports

Willingness and ability to learn additional skills Experience and Education:

One (1+) plus years experience working in construction.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year to year basis.

A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A or B is required

Candidates must pass Motor Vehicle Record (MVR check, a Department of Transportation (DOT) regulated physical as a requirement of the job and pass a pre-employment drug screen Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications:
