Job Summary/Basic Function:

FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY

Under general supervision of, and directly accountable to the Dean of Student Affairs and Retention:

Responsible for overall operations of Counseling Services including staff supervision, budgeting and

service delivery. The Manager maintains collaborate, integrated partnerships with divisional colleagues,

faculty and staff.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Administer and coordinate resources and activities of the counseling center to serve the mental

health needs of the students and community, including strategic planning, policy development,

resource allocation, services, and evaluation.

2. Prepare Counseling Services budget and write annual reports as required.

3. Supervision of staff.

4. Maintain external and internal networks of consultation, collaboration, and referral to enhance the

services provided to students.

5. Maintain clinical caseload of individual students and facilitate other clinical services, including

crisis intervention and groups, as needed.

6. Participate on appropriate university committees.

7. Provide mental health training opportunities, educational programming, and consultation to the

campus community.

8. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's Degree in clinical mental health field and current license as a clinical provider in the state of Michigan. 5+ years of counseling experience. Experience working with issues in mood disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma, and substance abuse. Strong interpersonal and critical thinking skills. Knowledge of local and national issues, trends, and best practice standards in college health issues. Strong programming and outreach skills. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations and/or a commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications:

Doctoral Degree preferred. Previous position in college/university counseling center.

Physical Demands:

Adequate physical fitness to be able to sit and concentrate for long periods of time; use of fine motor skills to operate computer; ability to see, hear, and speak with or without the use of aids to perform normal office tasks; use of gross motor skills to perform supervisory and organizational duties; full use of arms, hands, legs and feet to allow completion of housing inspections on a timely basis.

Work Hours:

M-F, 8am - 5pm and some after hours response
