Axle is seeking a highly ambitious, adaptable, structured, and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to join our vibrant team at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) in Rockville, MD.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform Edman (n-terminal) sequencing and related sample preparation.

Perform mass spectrometry-based proteomic sample preparation techniques, including proteolytic digestions, peptide labeling, and protein purifications.

Assist with sample preparation and derivatization of metabolites and lipids in samples from disease models.

Assist with maintaining instrumentation in good working order.

Aid in the mentoring and training of young investigators.

Track and maintain chemical and consumable inventories.

Maintain and organize sample storage.

Ensure referenceable data storage and assist with data preprocessing and filtering.

Communicate with collaborators punctually concerning project details, timelines, and reports.

Position Requirements:

Applicants should possess a Bachelors or, preferably, an advanced degree in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, or other relevant fields with laboratory experience.

Experience in proteomics, metabolomics or lipidomics disease and immunology associated samples is a plus.

Experience in data management.

Personal Skills:

Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment with co-workers

Good record-keeping and organizational skills.

NIH experience a plus.
