Job Description

Mdtown Detroit Construction (MDC) is a dynamic construction company in Detroit with a three-pronged community impact mission:

1) Build affordable homes for Detroiters

2) Utilize a workforce consisting of at least 90% minorities on all construction projects.

3) Provide on-the-job training opportunities that strategically prepares employees to obtain a Michigan Residential Builders License for career advancement.

We are currently rehabbing a 50 unit apartment building in Detroit that will be one of the first smart buildings in the city!

The role of a Skilled Carpenter will involve the following duties:

Framing, Drywall, Kitchen Cabinet installation, Doors, Moldings, Flooring, Finish Carpentry, Windows, Metal Framing, Ceilings.

Concrete forming.

Install cabinets and molding.

Ensuring work is completed on time, to a high standard and in line with health and safety guidelines.

Training new and inexperienced carpenters on how to do the job.

Experience:

Minimum of 4 years experience as a Carpenter.

Minimum of 2 years experience as Team Leader.

Knowledge:

Carpentry construction work such as wall and ceiling framing, drywall installation and finishing, tiling, heated floor systems, & installation of window, door, floor & ceiling trim.

Expertise in framing, doors & windows is a must

Excellent understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction
