Trial Attorney IV

Location: 200 E Robinson St. Orlando, FL 32801, USA

Pay Rate: $65.06/hour, paid weekly!

Schedule: 40 hours per week; Regular business hours

Contract Length: 12 months, opportunity for extension/conversion depending on performance, attendance and business need

JOB SUMMARY:

Provides legal representation for clients in complex and/or construction defect matters. Reviews and evaluates assigned cases. Communicates with Claims and clients. Provides related legal advice and services. Fosters and develops relationships with Claims.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leads, works directly on or provides subject matter expertise on significant, complex legal and/or construction defect matters, representing clients in depositions, mediations and hearings before all courts or agencies, including appeals and arbitrations.

May be specialized in one or more areas of law or lines of business.

Reviews and evaluates cases and lawsuits.

Cases will predominately involve construction defect issues.

Works with client and Claims to establish and implement Litigation Plan. Keeps client and Claims fully informed.

Obtains meaningful discovery, takes depositions, and participates in motions practice as warranted.

Recognizes, participates and promotes settlement opportunities. Negotiates as authorized, with settlement values requiring Director level or home office involvement.

Demonstrated proficiency interpreting Insurance contracts and coverage issues.

Assists with audits within Trial Division (national audit and/or KPI). Follows established NTD Best Practices Guidelines.

Provides leadership within the office. Conducts training for Claims and intra-office; mentors less experienced attorneys.

Fosters and develops relationship with Claims. Has significant contact with Claims management. Assists with business development and retention.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

JD degree.

Designations:

Currently licensed as an attorney in Florida.

Experience:

Typically has in excess of ten years of relevant civil litigation, trial experience and/or agency hearing representation experience, as well as substantial jury trial experience as lead counsel. A skilled attorney in an area of law relevant to insurance practice.

Knowledge:

Has significant expertise in Construction Defect law.

Engages in complex legal practices and procedures.

Considered a subject matter expert within his or her area of legal expertise.

Possesses strong leadership skills.

Engages in complex legal practices and procedures.

Credit Check: Due to the fiduciary accountabilities of this job, a valid credit check and background which will be required as part of the selection process.
