Description:

Functions:

Perform initial engineering site surveys based on project description.

Document surveys to determine feasibility and the estimated cost.

Obtain authorization to proceed and confirm funding.

Create detailed engineering drawings of the ISP/OSP build, floor plans, structured cabling diagrams, power, environmental needs, and equipment elevation drawings.

Designs must conform to state, local, national, Client’s standards and codes, and to the NJ historical and/or environmental commissions.

Based on the engineering documents create a SOW (Scope of Work) and BOM (Bill of Materials).

Submit to client manager to approve and proceed when funding is obtained.

Create a construction package and submit it to contractors or in house for quotes.

Review quotes and choose the low bid qualified contractor or in-house trades to complete the work.

If UCC permits are required coordinate submittals with the DCA or local agency.

Develop schedules with all stakeholders on timelines for work.

Confirm workers are safety trained and conform to client, Amtrak, Conrail, Light Rail, FRA, and OSHA requirements.

Supervise and manage installations and conduct inspections.

Review and inspect work to ensure contractor met obligations under terms of contract.

Review and approve submittal of invoices to clients for payment.

Coordinate with client’s network engineering to connect, configure, and install the network equipment in the ISP/OSP space built out. Room ready.

Review and confirm a successful installation and all is working as intended before site goes into production.

Perform high level break fix of IT infrastructure troubles or repairs as needed.

Daily travel to multiple locations depending on scheduled or unscheduled work.

Knowledge: High Level Skills In:

Inside and outside plant IT infrastructure engineering

Interior building designs of space IT rooms, data centers, cabinets, racks, power, structured cabling, hardware in plenum, non-plenum, and industrial locations

Structured cabling design of fiber optic single mode and/or multimode cable and hardware, knowledge of bandwidth, and distance limitations, budget loss.

Structured cabling design of copper ethernet such as Cat6, Cat6a cable and hardware design, bandwidth, and distance limitations

Carrier circuit entrance, dmarc, and equipment builds for data and voice circuits.

Outside plant aerial and underground systems, utility poles, manholes, handholes, duct banks, conduits and OSP network cable types and uses.

Electrical power calculations including backup power design and sizing.

NEC codes such as NFPA-70, NFPA-130

Division 27 Master Format, UCC construction documentation.

Certified or experience with BICSI Best Practices, IEEE, TIA 568, 569, 570 standards.

Estimating costs, time, and materials.

Microsoft Office, and Teams, Visio or CAD for document preparation.

Project Managing IT project builds from inception to production.

Troubleshooting structured cabling, copper/fiber issues.
