Job Summary

The Assistant Manager of our esteemed pet resort, specializing in dog boarding, dog daycare, and dog grooming, plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation and exceptional care of our furry guests. Working closely with the General Managers, you will assist in overseeing the daily activities of our facility, maintaining high standards of service, and providing a safe and nurturing environment for dogs and their owners. Your strong organizational skills, leadership abilities, and passion for animals will contribute to the overall success and reputation of our pet resort.

General Accountabilities (The company reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.)

Supervising Operations: Assist in managing the day-to-day operations of the pet resort, ensuring smooth and efficient functioning of all services.

Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries, assisting with reservations, and ensuring customer satisfaction throughout their pets' stay or grooming experience in person, digitally, or by phone.

Staff Management: Assist in overseeing and training a team of staff members, ensuring they follow established protocols and deliver high-quality care to the dogs.

Assist other staff members on occasion with such tasks as helping restrain an animal, helping clients with their pets, etc.

Facility Maintenance: Monitor the cleanliness, maintenance, and safety of the pet resort, including dog kennels, play areas, grooming stations, and common areas. This includes, but is not limited to sweeping/mopping floors, wiping counters, laundry, washing dishes, taking out trash, cleaning bathrooms, yard work (including raking leaves and shoveling snow.)

Dog Care and Safety: Maintain a safe and nurturing environment for all dogs, ensuring their well-being, proper handling, and adherence to health and safety protocols.

Clean up after animals both inside the facility and outside, and clean animal rooms and kennels as needed.

Feed, water, walk, exercise, bathe, and groom animals as needed in our care.

Administer medications as indicated by owners and veterinarian.

Bring animals to and from the kennel during check-in and check-out times.

Provides basic animal health and grooming services, including bathing animals, trimming nails, and brushing teeth.

Inventory and Supply Management: Help in managing inventory levels, ordering supplies, and maintaining stock for dog food, grooming products, and other necessary items.

Administrative Tasks: Assist with administrative duties such as record-keeping, report generation, billing, and handling pet-related paperwork.

Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, licensing requirements, and health and safety standards for pet care facilities.

Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for improving services, processes, and customer experience, and provide feedback and suggestions to the management.

Job Qualifications and Skills

Experience: Prior experience working in a similar role within the pet care industry, such as a pet resort, kennel, or animal shelter.

Knowledge of Pet Care: A strong understanding of dog behavior, breeds, health, and basic grooming practices to effectively oversee the care provided.

Operations Management: Proficiency in overseeing day-to-day operations, including scheduling, inventory management, and maintaining cleanliness and safety standards.

Leadership Skills: Demonstrated leadership abilities to supervise and motivate a team of staff members, ensuring they perform their duties efficiently and effectively.

Customer Service: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to provide exceptional customer service, address inquiries and concerns, and handle difficult situations with pet owners.

Organization and Multitasking: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize responsibilities, and ensure smooth operations.

Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with other managers, staff members, and outside sources to ensure the overall success of the pet resort.

Staff Training and Development: Experience in training new employees, conducting performance evaluations, and providing guidance and support to staff members.

Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills to address any issues that may arise, such as customer complaints, staffing challenges, or emergencies.

Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail to maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and safety standards throughout the pet resort.

Flexibility: Willingness to work in a dynamic environment with varying schedules, including weekends and holidays, to meet the needs of the business and pet owners.

Passion for Animals: Genuine love and passion for animals, particularly dogs, along with a commitment to providing them with the highest level of care and well-being.

Physical Strength: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds individually and participate in team lifts of up to 150 pounds.

Endurance: Capability to withstand prolonged exposure to water and soaps, as well as stand for extended periods of time.

Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with customers, employees, and vendors effectively. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in written form.

Allergen Tolerance: Capacity to endure prolonged exposure to dog and cat hair and allergens.

Physical Agility: Capability to frequently walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, lift, and reach.

Comprehension: Ability to understand and carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form.

Computer Proficiency: Familiarity with basic computer software and systems used for reservations, customer management, and financial tracking.

Sales and Marketing: Knowledge of sales techniques and marketing strategies to promote the pet resort's services, attract new customers, and increase revenue.

Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age.Company Description
