Role Overview:
The Development Project Manager (formerly known as PM2) is responsible for the development of utility-scale wind/solar powered generation projects from the project identification stage through financial closing and start of construction. This position supports the Central Development region and has the opportunity to sit in either the Houston HQ or Overland Park, KS office on a hybrid-remote schedule.
What You Will Be Doing:
Responsible for local state, federal, and regional permitting of utility-scale wind farms and solar parks
Oversee the preparation of proposals that are submitted to utilities
Obtain land surface rights to design, permit, construct, operate, and maintain wind and solar power projects
Identify prospective projects with suitable wind resource, electric transmission access, and site characteristics
Establish and manage relationships with stakeholders, including elected officials, regulators, utilities, RTOs, and community leaders, to support project development
Participate in policy outreach efforts to government officials regarding wind and solar industry issues
Monitor Generation Interconnection studies performed by transmission providers and third parties
Manage the environmental study and permitting process
Support the financial analysis and modeling of the project
Manage project level expenditures and invoice processing
Develop project budgets
Participate in interconnection agreement negotiations
Work with internal resources, such as the Legal, Engineering, Construction, Finance, Investment Analysis and Energy Assessment teams
Provide reports to management by producing regular and frequent pipeline updates, project status updates, and other reporting documents
Research energy market and competition on an ongoing basis
Communicate information continuously and effectively to cross-functional team
Negotiate and establish local agreements that address tax abatement, Road Use and Decommissioning
Participate in Power Purchase Agreement negotiations
Manages the work of your direct reports and third-party consultants

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field
7+ years of progressively responsible project management experience in energy or a related industry
Must have experience with utility-scale wind development
Understanding of Microsoft products and/or complementing products preferred.
Competency in Analytical Problem Solving, Strong Communication, Customer/Partner Relationships, and Technology Expertise preferred
Valid driver's license
