POSITION OBJECTIVE

The Director of Safety and Quality will plan, direct, and coordinate all of Gregory’s quality programs, safety initiatives, risk management, and loss control systems. This person will be responsible for ensuring that these programs are in full compliance with company policy, OSHA regulations, and other construction industry standards. They will also lead in developing an incident response action plan utilizing root cause analysis to prevent reoccurrence. Sitting on the executive leadership team, this person will be responsible for providing strong direction, consistency, and accountability for Gregory’s multi-state safety program. The ideal candidate for this role is someone who has extensive experience running and maintaining multi-state safety programs for a civil construction company. Success will be dependent on this candidate’s ability to adapt Gregory’s current safety program, recommend needed adjustments, and ensure all staff are trained on necessary safety measures. Lastly, the right candidate will be able to quickly learn and live out the values and mission of Gregory Construction.

POSITION KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Establish and maintain comprehensive Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Management programs that ensure legal compliance, promote safety, and enhance accountability and transparency.

Lead and execute the company's safety-focused vision to ensure organizational effectiveness and reinforce the safety and mentorship culture throughout the organization.

Lead incident investigations, analyze root causes, and develop corrective action plans to prevent recurrence.

Maintain regulatory compliance and operational excellence by applying construction methodologies, safety practices/plans, inspections/audits, preventive/corrective actions, risk management, and incentive programs.

Foster continuous learning and improvement through comprehensive EHS training for all staff members.

Strengthen partnerships and stakeholder relations by serving as a safety liaison between clients, subcontractors, BROWZ, and inspectors, ensuring alignment with safety standards and protocols.

Manage and mentor regional safety leads, providing them with the training and direction they need to successfully oversee safety operations on job sites.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE NEEDED

5+ years of Health and Safety experience in a construction environment

Bachelor’s degree in Health & Safety, Engineering or equivalent EHS experience

Proven technical expertise in heavy civil, industrial, or mission-critical construction safety practices and risk management programs

Multi-state safety management experience preferred

Professional Certificates (CHST, CSP, OSHT, CSST, CRIS) required

Lead Investigator training in root cause incident analysis techniques (such as TOPSET, TAPROOT) preferred

Proven experience creating, maintaining, and overseeing EHS programs for a Civil construction company

Strong leadership and people management skills

Knowledge of workers compensation laws
