Description:

Seagoing engineer aboard US-flag tanker, sailing foreign. The Third Assistant Engineer is responsible for upkeep and maintenance of shipboard machinery spaces and equipment. Serves as a day-working Engineering Officer as directed by Chief Engineer.

Must hold a current U.S. Coast Guard Third Assistant Engineer - Motor Unlimited horsepower plus OICEW.

Must hold a valid MMC, STCW Endorsements, USCG Medical Certificate, US passport and TWIC.

Tankerman Engineer or Tankerman PIC preferred, but NOT required. The candidate will have the opportunity to earn the appropriate tankerman endorsement onboard.

Job Duties

1. Follow all lawful orders received from the Master, Chief Engineer and other officers.

2. Assist the Chief Engineer in scheduling, supervising, delegating and performing preventative maintenance action to shipboard equipment.

3. Ensure personal protective equipment is used as required.

4. Ensure USCG, Class, USMMI, and MSC (as appropriate) regulations, policies and procedures are enforced in the Engine Department at all times as directed.

5. Follow the company's Safety Management System and Anti-Harassment, Anti-Bullying, Anti-Discrimination, Equal Opportunity and Code of Conduct policy.

6. Comply with USCG chemical testing regulations.

7. Immediately report any accidents or injuries to the Chief Engineer.

8. Supervise Engine Department personnel as directed

9. Perform work assignments safely, with a minimum amount of supervision, as directed by the Chief Engineer or First Assistant Engineer.

10. Safely use power tools, hand tools and power equipment.

11. Operate vessel's machinery plant as directed.
