Overview: The Dietary Cook prepares and cooks meals for residents and by performing the following duties.

Dietary Cook Responsibilities * Gathers all food needed for mealtime and reports any shortages to Food Service Director.

* Plates all food items for residents and staff.

* Prepares various foods depending on the menu created by the dieticians for each meal of the day, following federal, state, and local regulations.

* Operates various kitchen equipment in preparation for the meal, e.g., mixer, meat slicer, oven, steamer, etc.

* Serves meals in a safe manner and follows all requirements.

* Directs activities of one or more workers who assist in preparing and serving meals.

* Accurately follows diet cards when serving residents.

* Takes and documents food temperatures.

* Cleans kitchen and all kitchen equipment.

* Assists in putting away of dietary stock and rotation of dietary supplies.

* Keeps all coolers clean and organized, including checking expiration dates.

* Follows portion control guidelines.

* *Maintain the confidentiality of all resident, staff and organization information.

Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education and/or Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Previous cook experience required.
