About the Position

Join our team at ISA International Inc. as an upholsterer and play a pivotal role in crafting high-quality chairs and furniture pieces. As an upholsterer, you will be responsible for applying upholstery materials to various furniture components, ensuring precision and attention to detail in every stitch. Working closely with our skilled craftsmen, you will contribute to the creation of comfortable and visually appealing furniture that meets the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship. Responsibilities (PLEASE REVIEW THE DUTIES BELOW AND ADVISE OF ANY CHANGES YOU REQUIRE)

Consult with customers to discuss upholstery fabric, color, and style preferences, providing detailed cost estimates for upholstering furniture or other items.

Utilize sketches or design specifications to lay out, measure, and cut upholstery materials with precision and accuracy.

Employ hand and power tools to replace worn-out webbing, springs, and other furniture parts, ensuring the structural integrity of the furniture.

Seam cushions and join sections of covering materials using sewing machines or hand stitching techniques, maintaining consistency and durability.

Install padding and underlays, securely fastening covering materials to furniture frames to achieve a professional and polished finish.

Apply decorative trim, braids, or buttons to upholstered items through tacking, gluing, or sewing techniques, enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the furniture.

Fabricate and install upholstery in various settings such as aircraft, motor vehicles, railway cars, boats, and ships, adhering to specific safety and design standards.

Perform additional tasks as needed, including repairing furniture frames, refinishing wood surfaces, creating upholstery patterns, and maintaining or repairing interior components

Qualifications

Secondary school, or equivalent

Completion of a two- to three-year apprenticeship program or 5 years of relevant trade experience

Over 4 years of experience working with furniture

3 years of relevant work experience working with chairs, padding, foam, springs and webbing

Job Type

Full-time, permanent, 30 hours per week

Wages and Benefits

$28.50-$30.00, depending on experience
