AOC Formulations, the leading global supplier of specialty resins, is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Technician for the union facility located in Valparaiso IN. This opportunity provides a rewarding career with great benefits and work schedule.

The position provides support for the plant’s various mechanical systems. The candidate should have the skills and ability to apply “trade level” technical skills as a Mechanical Maintenance Technician. The candidate will be provided the opportunity to develop electrical & instrumentation skills with compensation advancement. Working knowledge with computers and MS Office is required.

The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.

Job Function: This position requires knowledge and skills to work on mechanical systems, with a desire to become a multi-craft Technician. Some of the job functions for this position include:

Safety training in First Aid/CPR, LOTO, Hot Work, Fall Protection, Line Break, and Confined Space Entry and Rescue.

Preventive maintenance activities to plant assets such as pumps, valves, flame arrestors, conservation vents, blanketing systems, equipment oil & lubrication, tank/vessel inspections, etc.

Repairs for the following plant assets: agitators, high shear mixers, blowers, compressors, chillers, heat exchangers, tanks/vessels, centrifugal/positive displacement pumps, valves, etc.

Maintain and repair plant utilities such as steam boilers, hot oil heater, thermal oxidizer, compressed air, meager air, nitrogen, chilled/heated process water, etc.

Support predictive maintenance activities related to oil analysis, vibration analysis, and infrared analysis.

Troubleshooting and root cause failure analysis of plant equipment.

Proper use of equipment and tools such as welders, hand/power tools, rigging, laser alignment, dial indictors, drill press, pipe threading machine, grinders, forklifts, manlifts, scissor lifts, etc.

Basic joining and fabrication methods for process and utility piping including threaded and welded methods.

Foundational skills to work on pneumatic & hydraulic systems such as presses, valve actuators, & ramps.

Use of Computerized Maintenance Management System for activities such as preventative maintenance & service requests.

Supervision: This position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor.

Qualifications and Experience:

Completion of a recognized apprenticeship or trade school; or 5 years of relevant industrial experience.

Must have experience with mechanical systems.

Knowledge of tanks and vessels preferred.

Knowledge of pumps, valves and fittings preferred.

Pipe fabrication/repair and some welding.

OSHA 10- or 30-hour certification is a plus.

Proficient in pipe threading, welding, burning, and grinding.

Must be able to read blueprints, technical manuals, and equipment files.
