Job Description
Summary
The primary duty of an EMS dispatcher at First 2 Aid is to act as the central communication hub between First 2 Aid and our Healthcare partners. They gather information, allocate resources, follow protocols, multitask under pressure, and maintain accurate documentation. By coordinating and communicating with our ambulances and crews the EMS dispatcher fills a crucial role in ensuring timely and effective emergency and non-emergency responses.
Essential Functions
Receives incoming emergency calls from within the facility, such as from patients, staff, or other healthcare professionals
Remains calm and focused while gathering essential details about the nature of the emergency, the location, and the patient's condition
Determines the appropriate level of response required for both Emergency and Non-Emergency calls
Coordinates the deployment of Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Life Support (ALS), Specialty Care Transportation (SCT) and Critical Care Transportation (CCT) crews
Serves as a central communication hub, relaying critical information between healthcare personnel, emergency responders, and other relevant parties
Provides updates, relays instructions, and facilitates clear and concise communication to ensure a coordinated and timely response
Follows established protocols and guidelines to ensure consistent and standardized responses to emergencies
Maintains accurate records of all incoming calls, relevant details, response actions taken, and outcomes
Documents pertinent information for future reference, quality assurance and statistical analysis
Efficiently handles multiple tasks simultaneously
Manages high-pressure situations, staying focused, and making quick decisions to prioritize and allocate resources effectively
Receives regular training to stay updated on the latest emergency protocols, communication systems, and technology used in EMS dispatch operations in order to handle emergencies efficiently
Upholds a professional appearance and a courteous demeanor while on duty, treating all individuals with respect and politeness
Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years of age
Ability to pass physical evaluation, including lifting 75 lbs.
High school diploma or general educations degree (GED)
Must be able to communicate and understand written & conversational English
Licensure and Certifications
Valid Class "E" Florida Driver's license
Certification Preferred
Certificate in Medical Billing and Coding
Associate of Applied Science in Health Information Technology
Florida State Licensure, Department of Health as a EMT or Paramedic
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

Compensation
Dispatcher: $17.00 - $18.00+ (Commensurating Experience)
First 2 Aid EMS, provides BLS, ALS and CCT inter-facility medical transportation services in Osceola County, Orange County, Polk County, Lake County, and Seminole County.
