Database Solutions Architect

Your Moneris Career - The Opportunity The Database Solutions Architect will provide hands-on, technical leadership and oversight on technical architecture and design of Moneris database systems, on-premise and cloud-based, to ensure scalability, reliability, security and operational efficiency are in place to support our needs.

Location: You will be based in our Toronto office and will work in a Hybrid model.

Reporting Relationship: You will report to the Director, Data Platform and Services.

Your Moneris Career - What you'll do Provide technical leadership for the architecture, design, development, and operational support of Moneris database systems and its associated technologies to meet requirements of high availability, consistent performance, scalability, and security.

Continuously assess and identify inefficiencies and gaps in the current database technology portfolio and recommend solutions.

Lead the evaluation and recommendation of emerging technologies in support of increasing cost-effectiveness and systems flexibility to meet our needs.

Design, plan and lead the implementations of solutions using database technologies and their functional capabilities based on business requirements while effectively integrating into existing database infrastructure, smoothly transitioning knowledge of the solutions to the members of the team for deployment and operation.

Establish and support the implementation and adoption of technology standards, processes and policies related to the Database Services functional area.

Develop database architectural strategies at the modelling, design and implementation stages to address business and industry requirements.

Lead and participate in initiatives with Applications and Technology teams to design, develop, and deploy Database solutions following Agile methodologies and best practices.

Provide technology ownership, mentorship and support for escalated incidents and problems to Database Services team members.

Assist in the assessment and development of long-term strategic goals, products, and services for Data Platforms and Services Your Moneris Career - What you bring Bachelor’s degree in computer science/IT or a related field of study or 10+ years of equivalent IT working experience 10 or more years of experience and expertise in Database and Systems architecture design, development, and implementations in medium or large enterprise mission-critical 24/7 environments Experienced and proficient in Microsoft SQL Server DBA discipline and Azure SQL solutions.

Strong background and experience with all High Availability, Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery capabilities of Microsoft SQL Server including Always-On Availability Groups, Mirroring, Log Shipping, and Clustering.

Practical understanding of other Infrastructure BC/DR capabilities Extensive experience in logical and physical Database Systems design Microsoft Data and Azure Certifications, MySQL and other relational and non-relational database systems experience are considered an asset.

Sound knowledge of current technology standards, process engineering approaches and data management practices Experience working in the financial and payment processing business is considered a strong asset.

Possess ownership, problem-solving and collaboration skills to deliver against agreed timelines.

Excellent presentation and communication skills with the ability to interact with customers with accuracy and professionalism.
