We are currently hiring a Sr. Database Administrator in Boston, MA (*Hybrid).
*A Hybrid position at Boston Beer requires that our coworkers reside within commuting distance to be onsite according to their teams' weekly schedule.
The primary purpose of the Sr. Database Administrator is to execute the day-to-day operation and maintenance of Boston Beer Corporation's databases. Reporting to the Database Systems Manager, this hands-on, technical role has primary responsibility for SQL Server databases and data servers (on-premises and cloud based) and will work with the IT team to implement database solutions and ensure their performance and reliability, as well as automation of database tasks.
Working with the Database Systems Manager and the BI team, this individual will assume ownership of database, develop comprehensive knowledge of existing systems, and work to improve them. This individual will have primary responsibility for database uptime, backups, environment & capacity planning, implementation of new database objects, security, and performance tuning.
What You'll Brew:
Ensure uptime, accessibility and performance of SQL Server databases and data servers (on-premise and cloud based), including Data Warehouse, application system databases, cloud data servers
Day to day monitoring of all aspects of database (on-premise/cloud based) systems including storage, memory, backups, CPU and any exception conditions
Review and deployment of new database objects in cooperation with application development and BI teams, ensuring standards are met, and best practices are promoted. Also, deprecation of old contents as new solutions are developed
Responsible for scheduled batch jobs, including shared responsibility for off-hours monitoring and problem resolution
Perform scripting of batch jobs and other automation tasks related to on premise and cloud database systems
Assist Data Quality function with key data maintenance tasks ensuring timeline execution and good technical discipline
Assist in database development tasks, including functions, views, stored procedures, jobs, etc
Work with systems admins on key database related performance testing and optimization
Maintain documentation of database solutions (new and existing)
Maintain quality of database solutions by establishing, adhering to, and enforcing standards
Improve database environment through coding of utilities, functions, and maintenance routines
Work with both internal and external end-users to troubleshoot incidents
Work with vendors for ongoing maintenance and support issues as needed
What Ingredients You'll Bring:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree, preferably in Computer Science or related discipline, or relevant experience
5+ years in a Microsoft SQL Server DBA role
Experience in Azure environment and/or an environment transitioning to Azure
3+ years of PowerShell experience
Preferred Qualifications
Microsoft SQL Server courses and certifications
Experience in SQL Server development (T-SQL, SSIS, SSAS, AS Azure)
Experience with PowerBI is a plus
Advanced knowledge and understanding of SQL performance on various compute and storage regimes including SAN, local array, physical server, virtualized server (VMWare)
Advanced knowledge of Windows Server operating systems, Microsoft Active Directory, and Enterprise Datacenter environments
Additional experience with other database systems is a plus

In accordance with pay transparency lawsthe salary range for this role if hired is $76,500 - $156,000 annually based on location and the experience level of the candidate. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on individual and company performance.
