Security Officer

The Shubert Organization is America’s oldest professional theatre company and the largest theatre owner on Broadway. Since the dawn of the 20th century, Shubert has operated hundreds of theatres and produced hundreds of plays and musicals both in New York City and throughout the United States. Shubert currently owns and operates 17 Broadway theatres, six off-Broadway venues, and the Forrest Theatre in Philadelphia.

Its consumer-facing brands—Telecharge for retail ticket sales and Broadway Inbound for tour operators and the travel industry—sell millions of tickets each year.

JOB TITLE: Security Officer

SALARY: $21.25 per hour

SCHEDULED HOURS: 4pm - midnight, five days per week including one weekend with variable days off

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Daily job responsibilities/functions to include, but not be limited to:

- Check and secure the theatre at beginning and end of operations (make sure all doors are locked, turn off lights, check for unusual activity, etc)

-Maintain a safe, secure and friendly lobby for guests

- Check bags and personal items of patrons entering the theatre. Enforce food and liquid policies

- Monitor and inspect the building frequently during open hours

- Respond to security threats and Theater Management requests for assistance

- Set up stanchions and other equipment as necessary

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Must be extremely reliable and punctual

Must be resourceful and calm under pressure, with the ability to deal with unanticipated developments

Ability to work flexible hours

Ability to lift 25 pounds

Must be willing and to obtain a security guard license (training will be provided). Current or previous security guard license holder a plus.

Strong interpersonal skills and professional demeanor

Membership in Local 32BJ is required (non-members must apply upon hire). Benefits are available through Local 32BJ.
