Celebrating 20 years since first opening its doors in London, Zuma is sophisticated twist on the traditional Japanese Izakaya style of informal eating and drinking. Co-founded by Rainer Becker and Arjun Waney in 2002, Zuma has 15 venues globally and 9 seasonal locations.

Featuring modern Japanese cuisine that is authentic but not traditional. The menu showcases a variety of dishes from its three kitchens: the main kitchen, the sushi counter and the robata grill.

JOB SUMMARY:

As a GM/AGM in Training at Zuma, you will undergo comprehensive training to prepare you for a leadership role in overseeing the restaurant's daily operations. You will work closely with the current management team to learn all aspects of restaurant management, including FOH and Kitchen operations, financial management, staff supervision, and guest relations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Shadow and assist the current GM/AGM to learn the duties and responsibilities of the role

Gain hands-on experience in managing all aspects of restaurant operations, including staffing, scheduling, inventory management, and budgeting

Assist in recruiting, training, and supervising restaurant staff, ensuring adherence to company standards and policies

Learn to maintain high standards of food quality, service, cleanliness, and hygiene in compliance with health and safety regulations

Assist in developing and implementing strategies to maximize revenue, enhance guest satisfaction, and drive business growth

Shadow the management team during service periods to learn about guest interactions, resolving issues, and ensuring a positive dining experience

Participate in meetings and training sessions to enhance knowledge and skills related to restaurant management

Assist in conducting regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with company standards and procedures

Collaborate with various departments, including kitchen, bar, and FOH teams, to streamline operations and improve efficiency

Gain exposure to financial management tasks, such as budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting

Handle administrative tasks, including scheduling, payroll processing, and inventory tracking, under the guidance of the management team

Provide support to the GM/AGM in carrying out special projects, events, and initiatives to promote the restaurant and enhance its reputation

Follow Zuma's service standards and protocols, including uniform guidelines, grooming standards, and service etiquette

Operate ethically to protect the image of the company

Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or requested

JOB KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

Previous management experience in the hospitality industry

Open to relocation, with willingness to work at any of Zuma's locations considered a plus

Bachelor's degree in hospitality management, business administration, or a related field preferred

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with staff, guests, and vendors

Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities, with attention to detail

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and restaurant management software is a plus

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment

Passion for hospitality and a commitment to delivering outstanding guest service

Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to perform the essential job functions consistent safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards

Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs; Ability to stand for prolong periods of time and climb steps regularly

Ability to physically maneuver through work areas; bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms, and hands above shoulder height frequently, or otherwise move in a constantly changing environment
