Description:

The 2nd Shift Production Supervisor is responsible for the direct management of a team of textile machine operators and technicians to safely execute productivity and quality targets on a shift-by-shift basis.

DGH is a leading manufacturer of technical textiles, fabrics and yarns used in the appliance industry, industrial markets, and personal protective equipment (PPE).

Essential Functions:

The Production Supervisor will prioritize consistently achieving key deliverables by leading with the following tenets daily:

Fill out daily job assignment board and communicate expectations to the team to ensure all needed positions are filled.

Ensure consistent adherence to standard work by all operators.

Monitor the uptime & utilization of key equipment.

Lead employee engagement through daily interactions and use of company-approved rewards and incentives.

Track, record, and share quantified KPI with plant Operations Manager.

Manage employee attendance & performance per company policy.

Communicate performance and development opportunities with their team, as well as upline; partner with plant Operations Manager and People Operations Team when needed.

Partner with the Engineering team to address concerns or opportunities with machine performance.

Partner with the plant Production Scheduler to coordinate the timely completion of jobs.

Partner with the plant Materials Buyer to coordinate needed inventory of input materials, work-in-progress & supplies.

Responsibilities:

Safely execute productivity and quality targets on a shift-by-shift basis.

Effective verbal and written communication skills (especially MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

Willingness to troubleshoot / overcome obstacles.

Fill out daily job assignment board and communicate expectations to the team to ensure all needed positions are filled.

Ensure consistent adherence to standard work by all operators.

Monitor the uptime & utilization of key equipment.

Lead employee engagement through daily interactions and use of company-approved rewards and incentives.

Track, record, and share quantified KPI with plant Operations Manager.

Manage employee attendance & performance per company policy.

Proactively recommend and implement process improvement strategies/initiatives.

Wear and enforce the usage of appropriate PPE (eye and ear protection)

Requirements:

Skills:

Ability to mentor and develop a team and have courageous conversations directly 1-on-1 with the employee.

Experience creating work instructions, training and onboarding employees.

Ability to make assertive decisions independently.

Ability to remain calm in busy and/or difficult situations.

Ability to learn how to run equipment and fill in for absences as needed.

Effective critical thinking skills.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to learn and perform troubleshooting of equipment.

Ability to bend and lean.

Ability to remain standing and traverse the production floor for several consecutive hours.

Ability to clearly see and differentiate colors.

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds independently.

Preferred Skills:

Forklift, OSHA and/or Lean Six Sigma Certified.

Prior experience with ERP systems.

Prior experience with textiles.

Familiarity with utilizing a standard work checklist.

Familiarity with Bill of Materials (BOMs).

Education/Experience:

High School Diploma/GED, college degree preferred.

5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.

Must have prior supervisory or team-leading experience in a manufacturing environment.

Intermediate user of Microsoft 365, particularly Outlook, Excel and Word.

Internal Candidate Requirements:

Must be in good standing with the Company.

Must have a demonstrated record of exceptional attendance.

Must be cross trained in different equipment.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position supervises operators in the supervisor’s assigned area on the production floor.

Travel:

This position does not require travel.

Shift Hours:

2nd Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

All shifts receive a 30-minute unpaid lunch, daily. This is an on-site role.

Perform some physical exertion, including lifting up to 50 pounds, independently.

Regularly be required to stand, walk, bend and move about the facility, sometimes for several hours consecutively.

Must be able to clearly see and differentiate colors.

Must be capable of hearing proficiently, with or without the aid of a device.

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

The facility is not air conditioned and is subject to hot temperatures during the summer months.

Many areas of the production floor have a very high noise level. Hearing protection is required in these areas.

Regularly work near moving mechanical parts.

Come in contact with fiberglass.
