Position: English Literature Teacher

The School: Founded in 2016, the school is a K-12 international school located at the foot of the picturesque and historic YuQuan Mountain, Haidian District in Beijing. The campus is 200,000 square meters of beautiful gardens that integrates natural ecology, cultural heritage, and modern beauty with 140,000 square meters of green space.

The school curriculum is organized into the Primary School, grades K-5, the Middle School, grades 6-8, and High School, grades 9-12. Under the guidance of the Ministry of Educations nine-year compulsory education program, the curriculum is built on the strength from both Chinese and Western education. For Primary and Middle School, students follows a bilingual program using the US Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards along with the Chinese National Curriculum. For High School, the students follow the US Common Core and College Board AP curriculum and also the school offers the UK IGCSE and A-Level UK programs.

Job Summary: We are seeking a passionate and experienced English Literature Teacher to join our international school in China. The ideal candidate will inspire students through engaging and innovative teaching methods, fostering a love for literature and critical thinking. This role requires a commitment to academic excellence, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to adapt to an international school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Curriculum Development: Design and implement a comprehensive English literature curriculum that aligns with international education standards and the school's academic goals.

Instruction: Deliver high-quality, student-centered instruction in English literature to students in middle and high school. Utilize a variety of teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and cultural backgrounds.

Assessment: Develop and administer assessments to evaluate student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly. Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and parents.

Classroom Management: Maintain a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment. Implement effective classroom management strategies to ensure a conducive learning atmosphere.

Extracurricular Activities: Participate in and contribute to extracurricular activities, such as literature clubs, writing workshops, and school events. Encourage students' participation in literary competitions and external examinations.

Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices and advancements in English literature teaching.

Collaboration: Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and the school administration to support student learning and school initiatives. Participate in department meetings, school committees, and parent-teacher conferences.

Cultural Sensitivity: Demonstrate cultural awareness and sensitivity in all interactions with students, parents, and colleagues. Foster an appreciation for diversity and global perspectives in the classroom.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in English Literature, Education, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.

Certification: Valid teaching certification or licensure in English or English Literature.

Experience: A minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in English literature, preferably in an international or multicultural setting.

Skills: Strong knowledge of English literature and literary analysis. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in using technology for educational purposes.

Language: Proficiency in English is required.
