Force Operations SME

Ventus Executive Solutions (VES) is seeking an experienced and technically proficient Force Operations SME to join an exciting team with the Office of the Undersecretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (OUSD(R&E)).

This opportunity is ideal for an experienced, self-starting, detail-oriented, and technically proficient individual to provide direct advisory support to the Multi-Domain Joint Operations (MDJO) Directorate of Mission Capabilities. The Force Operations SME provides management support for broad program portfolios, proposals, analysis, and funding recommendations Responsibilities include conducting small group reviews, cross-pollination meetings to coordinate and collaborate across the Department of Defense, as well as with other Government agencies, academia, and industry for situational awareness and information-sharing. Additionally, the Force Operations SME will assist with planning and completion of Technology Modernization Transition Reviews, lending technical expertise to help with topic selection and technology evaluations. The candidate will coordinate activities of large cross-cutting communities of interest to address technical challenges. The candidate must have experience or understanding of the Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System, Portfolio Management Review processes, transition pathways from research and development to sustainment, and the Rapid Defense Experimentation Reserve (RDER). The Force Operations SME demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills and is comfortable engaging with various stakeholders within OSD, Services, Combatant Commands, Government Agencies, and the Joint Staff at varying levels of leadership/seniority.

Required Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree AND Master's degree in Operation Research or Engineering or possesses a certificate from advanced Professional Military Education relevant to Military Training and/or Military Planning

15+ years of relevant work experience

Experience & expertise in at least two or more of the following areas:

Joint Force design, development and application

Operational constraints

Concepts of operation

Concepts of employment

Development and execution of Combatant Command operational plans

Threat tactics and responses, or logistic approaches

Experience working with Joint Staff, JCIDS, and military operations

Top Secret Clearance

Desired Experience:

Experience with OUSD (R&E)

Technical Writing experience
