Big Bird (Pty) Ltd trading as Engen Big Bird is a company which operates the Engen 1stops on both the N1 North and N1 South at New Road interchange at Midrand. Each site operates an Engen filling station, Quickshop, Bakery, Woolworths Foodstop as well as a Wimpy restaurant.

The ideal candidate will be well organised and comfortable dealing with financial data. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the accounts receivable, review of the accounts payable employee's work and a part of the general accounting function of the business. The candidate will report directly to the head of finance. The candidate will conduct other tasks relating to finance as well because the finance department relies heavily on Engen's back-office system for a lot of its information and daily processing. The candidate should be excellent at recording data and have an ability to produce clear financial reports.

Responsibilities

• Reconcilition of all the speedpoint and cash deposit clearing accounts and following up on discrepancies with site managers.

• General ledger reconciliations.

• Updating the fixed asset register.

• Handling of petty cash.

• Dealing with external auditors.

• Willingness to perform fellow employees' tasks while they are away on leave.

• Review of accounts payable statements and payment files before they are submitted for payment.

Qualifications

• B Comm (Accounting) Degree.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and Xero experience preferred.

• Strong organisational and analytical skills.
