POSITION OVERVIEW

Reports to: Vice President, Technical Services

Location: Vancouver preferred (Hybrid)

POSITION SUMMARY

As the Senior Engineer, Metallurgy, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of metallurgical optimization within Eldorado Gold and subsidiaries. You will work with and influence a team of metallurgists, engineers, and technicians to ensure the efficient production across various facilities. Your role will involve strategic planning, process optimization, metallurgical accounting and innovation to drive continuous improvement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior Engineer, Metallurgy will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

Collaboration with site teams to optimize metallurgical processes, including crushing, grinding, flotation, leaching, and dewatering, to maximize metal recovery and minimize operating costs.

Providing technical guidance and troubleshooting assistance to site metallurgical teams to address operational challenges and improve process efficiency.

Analyzing metallurgical data, including assays, plant performance metrics, and process parameters, to identify trends, deviations, and opportunities for improvement.

Staying abreast of the latest metallurgical technologies and research advancements and leading or participating in projects aimed at process innovation and improvement.

Working closely with environmental and regulatory teams to ensure metallurgical processes comply with environmental regulations and standards.

Championing a culture of safety by promoting safe work practices and adherence to company safety policies and procedures in all metallurgical activities.

Providing mentorship to site metallurgical personnel to enhance their technical skills and knowledge.

Preparing regular reports on metallurgical performance, including production statistics, process efficiencies, and improvement initiatives, for management review and decision-making.

Leading or participating in metallurgical-related projects, from conceptualization to implementation, ensuring timely completion and achievement of project objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.

Professional Engineer designation and ability to act as a Qualified Person an asset.

Several years of experience in metallurgical roles within the mining industry, with exposure to various mineral processing techniques.

Strong understanding of mineral processing fundamentals, including comminution, flotation, hydrometallurgy, and pyrometallurgy.

Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation, using software tools such as Excel, Minitab, or specialized metallurgical software.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Sound knowledge of environmental regulations and safety standards applicable to metallurgical operations.

Project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and drive projects to successful completion.

Willingness to travel to mine sites as needed and work in both corporate and field environments.

The Corporate Metallurgist plays an advisory role in ensuring the efficiency, sustainability, and safety of metallurgical operations across mining sites, contributing to the overall success of the company's mineral extraction and processing activities.
