POSITION – Machine Operator - Woods
JOB LOCATION – Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin
STARTING DATE – Immediately
EMPLOYMENT TERM – Temp-to-Hire
EMPLOYMENT TYPE – Full-Time
WORK HOURS (SHIFT) – 1st Shift (6am-4pm Mon-Thurs, OT on Fri)
STARTING PAY – $17.59-$18.00/hour depending on experience

REQUIRED EDUCATION – High School Diploma/GED required
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE – One to two years related work experience or training; OR equivalent combination of education and experience
Operates a variety of multiple conventional, production machines and/or equipment at specified machining centers to fabricate wood products, laminated parts, and/or metal components. Perform minor setup and adjustment functions on these machines.
Responsibilities:
Measure dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments, templates, and fixtures
Interprets blueprints, drawings, manuals, routing sheet specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements
Remove and replace dull cutting tools
Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and work pieces on machines, using hand tools and precision measuring instruments
Listen to machines during operation in order to detect sounds such as those made by dull cutting tools or excessive vibration and adjust machines to compensate for problems
Adjust machine feed and speed, change cutting tools, or adjust machine controls when automatic programming is faulty or if machines malfunction
Stop machines to remove finished work pieces, or to change tooling, setup, or work piece placement, according to required machining sequences. Follow proper safety procedures to operate machinery
Lift work pieces to machines manually, or with the assistance of a lifting mechanism to load and unload machinery
Measures, marks and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent machining
Selects aligns and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials on multiple panel processing equipment and machines
Starts and observes machine operation to detect out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls as required
Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications
Operates pallet jack to relocate finished components to another production area
Repairs and reworks faulty products as needed
Keeps work area and equipment free of debris
Records and submits accurate work time and job functions on daily time documents and routing sheets
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Communicate effectively and professionally with internal customers
Ability to read, interpret, comprehend and follow instructions both verbally and written
Ability to understand and apply documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees within the organization
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, percentages, and decimals
Ability to accurately comprehend, interpret and apply measuring device readings
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, area, circumference and volume
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Ability to use good judgment in determining best methods, acceptable quality levels, production priorities, and good and safe equipment procedures
