General Description:

Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintaining them over time. Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources. Developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work. Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.

Essential Functions:

Set-up and breakdown of rooms for both meetings and food functions.

Catering and other equipment set up/ break down/ maintenance as needed.

Ensure all banquet rooms and storage areas are always kept in a proper condition according to company standards.

Able to read a Banquet event order floor plan/ diagram.

Set up all meeting rooms to the specifications of the guest. This includes considerable physical activity in transporting sometimes awkward and heavy materials weighing up to 75 lbs. such as staging, tables, chairs, dance floors, etc., from the storage area to the meeting rooms.

Break down and service all meeting rooms/areas where meetings have concluded and returns items to storage area so the room will be available to reset for the next function.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

A minimum of six (6) months experience in a related field. A minimum of six (6) months of guest contact experience.

Experience and Education Substitutions:

An equivalent combination of formal education and appropriate related experience may be considered.

Licensing and Certification:

none

Note: Any degree, diploma, high school equivalent, or course hours required to meet minimum qualifications must be obtained from an accredited educational institution.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge of the proper way to operate the equipment. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services and meeting quality standards for services. Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. Knowledge of general cleaning supplies.

Skilled in talking to others to convey information effectively. Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times. Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed. Actively looking for ways to help people. The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects. The ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects. The job requires being careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasks. The job requires being reliable, responsible, dependable, and fulfilling obligations.

Ability to communicate to convey information effectively, persuasively, and accurately. Must be able to multi-task and remain calm under pressure. Must have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts. Must be able to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays. Must have excellent customer service skills. Must maintain a professional appearance & demeanor. Must have the ability to speak, read & write in English. Must have previous experience working in a hotel setting.
