Job Description:

Our client is seeking a highly qualified, experienced mid-level associate patent attorney or a senior patent agent to join a growing, dynamic national Intellectual Property group practice. Strong preference will be given to candidates who are in Madison, Milwaukee, Chicago. An undergraduate degree or an advanced degree in the fields of computer or software engineering or computer sciences is required.

Responsibilities:

Conduct patentability searches and analyses to assess the viability of potential patent applications.

Draft patent applications and responses to office actions across various technology fields.

Prosecute patent applications before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and other patent offices worldwide.

Perform IP due diligence, freedom-to-operate, and validity analyses.

Provide strategic counseling to clients on patent portfolio management and IP-related issues.

Collaborate with inventors, engineers, and other stakeholders to identify patentable inventions and develop IP protection strategies.

Assist with patent litigation matters, including drafting pleadings, conducting legal research, and preparing for hearings and trials.

Stay current on developments in patent law and industry trends to provide informed advice to clients.

Qualifications:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Admission to the applicable state bar and registration to practice before the USPTO.

Bachelor's or advanced degree in computers, software engineering or computer sciences.

At least 3 years of experience in patent prosecution and IP counseling or 5 years as a Patent Agent.

Strong understanding of patent law and USPTO regulations.

Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
