POSITION SUMMARY:

The Sound Engineer is responsible for recording, mixing, and editing music and audio during worship services, funerals, rental events, and special events. The sound engineer will set up, troubleshoot, and operate sound equipment in worship, recordings, funerals, and post-productions to ensure optimal sound quality in the house, on our live broadcast, and in recordings. Additionally, they will be responsible for training other media team members on the essentials for operating equipment and mixing sound during worship. The sound engineer will be an active and essential media team member and demonstrate a solid understanding of industry-standard practices and techniques. The incumbent will be familiar with and embrace the New Covenant Church of Philadelphia's vision, mission, and values. They are expected to model Christian character, have a heart for ministry, and be a regular attendee who is available and willing to serve.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Interacts with Pastors, congregation members, employees, and others with respect and courtesy; ensures that people are helped in a friendly and efficient manner.

Cultivates and maintains a positive environment and working relationship with others internally and externally.

Demonstrates regular attendance and punctuality.

Attends all staff meetings, professional development seminars, and assigned training sessions.

Attends required leadership meetings.

Ensures confidentiality of members and the Church's affairs is always maintained.

Adheres to all Church policies and acts as a role model in adherence to them.

SOUND & TRAINING RESPONSIBILITIES:

Mixes sound during our Sunday worship services, Tuesday Night Bible Study, and special services/events as needed.

Mixes sound during technical rehearsals with worship and media team.

Performs sound checks to troubleshoot any equipment or audio issues before worship.

Performs post-production sound edits for recordings (video and audio).

Ensures optimal sound on recorded footage.

Trains volunteers in operating sound equipment and effective mixing.

Confers with the Worship Leaders, Music Director, and Lead Pastor to establish cues and directions.

QUALIFICATIONS

Formal live sound training and a minimum of 3 years of continuous professional Sound Engineering experience.

Experience serving in a church or worship setting is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Experience with live sound engineering of large venues consisting of at least forty channels.

Experience mixing different genres of music, including gospel.

Fluent with both analog and digital consoles.

Strong attentiveness and detail oriented.

Leadership skills for directing a team of volunteers.

Good communication skills.

Knowledge of the Adobe Suite, Graphic Design, and Video Editing

Knowledge of Digital Audio Workstations.

Knowledge and ability to operate a Behringer Wing Digital Mixer

Ability to think quickly and react/troubleshoot properly in high-stress situations.

Ability to sit and work at a workstation for extended periods.

Ability to lift to 20 lbs. as needed.

Ability to stand for extended periods.

HOURS: Sunday Mornings, Tuesdays & Thursdays: 20-25 hours/week, non-exempt.

Flexibility for special events and funerals on weekdays and weekends is required.
