We are looking for a driven Senior Operations Engineer to join our Operations team at our NJ headquarters with a hunger to work in a challenging cloud architecture supporting all aspects of our production and engineering dev/test systems. As a Senior Operations Engineer and a member of the Operations team, you will be responsible for supporting internal virtual machines (VMs) as well as other internal systems. This motivated engineer will be expected to address critical production issues during off-hours as our production systems require 24 x 7 emergency support. This individual will actively engage with customers as well as interact across multiple teams including Director, Vice President, and C-level staff.

This full-time position will be based in our Morristown, NJ headquarters. We are not offering relocation for this position and are restricting our search to candidates who will be able to commute to our NJ office.

What you will do at DataMotion:

Create, support, and continually improve the monitoring of our production systems involving:

Script support and implementation (PowerShell, Windows command line, Linux shell scripts)

System monitoring platform configuration

System monitoring platform upgrades

Support our customer support ticketing system

Troubleshoot and resolve production system issues involving:

Writing/Executing SQL scripts (MS SQL Server)

Diagnosing and resolving SQL replication, clustering, and log shipping issues

Reviewing and interpreting log files

Cloud network troubleshooting (Azure)

Troubleshooting Azure cloud resources

Windows operating system (OS) support (VMs)

Linux OS support (VMs)

Supporting Active Directory for our production VMs

Troubleshooting Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) issues

Working with Windows service failover clustering (WSFC)

Certificate installation and renewal

Troubleshooting certificate issues

Troubleshooting/supporting Domain Name System (DNS)

Support the following aspects of DNS:

A-Records

MX Records

Nameserver (NS)

Sender Policy Framework (SPF)

Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting, and Conformance (DMARC)

DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM)

Support our internal Windows and Linux VMs (Azure VMs, local VDIs)

Maintaining our internal Active Directory

Support all aspects of our internal networking:

Virtual Private Network (VPN)

Wi-Fi access points

Firewalls (i.e., Meraki)

Switches

Routing

Supporting Microsoft Exchange 365

What you bring to this role:

Ability to perform all the activities listed above

5+ years of experience as an Operations Engineer supporting a multi-tenant production environment

5+ years of Windows OS experience

5+ years of Microsoft SQL replication/log shipping experience

5+ years of experience in Microsoft SQL clustering

5+ years of experience in troubleshooting and supporting Azure cloud resources including networking (i.e. Virtual Networks, Network Security Groups, Private Endpoints, Firewalls), VMs, and Load Balancing

5+ years of experience installing, and renewing certificates

5+ years of Active Directory experience

3+ years of experience writing SQL queries

3+ years of experience in creating and supporting PowerShell, and/or Linux shell scripts

3+ years of supporting VPNs (not cloud)

3+ years of experience with configuring and supporting a system monitoring platform

3+ years of experience using Microsoft WSFC

3+ years of DNS experience

2+ years of experience in configuring and supporting Wi-Fi access points

2+ years of experience in configuring and supporting hardware firewalls (i.e., Meraki)

2+ years of experience in supporting switches

2+ years of experience in routing

2+ years of experience supporting Linux operating systems

2+ years of SMTP experience

2+ years of Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) experience

2+ years of experience troubleshooting certificate issues

2+ years of experience using a customer service ticket support system

A self-starter that can work in isolation as well as collaboratively

Have an expertise in supporting production systems

Expert at balancing priorities in an agile environment

Proven track record of practical, thoughtful problem solving

Excellent documentation skills

Nice to have:

Microsoft Office 365 (Exchange) experience

Experience with supporting Azure App Service, Azure Function Apps, Azure Cognitive Search, and/or Azure Front Door

Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) experience

Experience in creating scripts using the PHP programming language

Experience in supporting Microsoft Power BI.

Microsoft Intune experience.

Open-Source Ticket Request System (OTRS) experience

Nagios experience

Education:

Computer Science or Related: Bachelor’s degree (Required), Master’s degree (Preferred)
