We are offering a short term contract employment opportunity for an Accounting Manager in the education industry, based in San Diego, California. This role involves overseeing and managing various accounting tasks, including month-end close activities, recurring journal entries, deferred revenue, accrual accounting, account reconciliation, and the preparation of monthly financial statements. The position involves remote work.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee month-end close activities to ensure accurate financial reporting

• Manage recurring journal entries and maintain meticulous records of all financial transactions

• Oversee deferred revenue recognition processes in compliance with accounting standards and company policies

• Conduct thorough accrual accounting to accurately reflect financial performance and obligations

• Reconcile accounts promptly and address any discrepancies in a timely manner

• Prepare monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, for review and analysis

• Utilize Concur and Concur Expense systems for expense management and reporting

• Leverage advanced Microsoft Excel skills to analyze financial data, create reports, and streamline processes

• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to support financial reporting and analysis initiatives

• Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in accounting and finance.• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role within the Education industry

• Proficiency in Month End Close, Month-end Close Activities, and Recurring Journal Entries

• Experience with Deferred Revenue and Accrual Accounting

• Ability to perform Account Reconciliation

• Experience in preparing Monthly Financial Statements

• Proficiency in using Concur and Concur Expense

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel

• Ability to comply with all legal and company regulations for working in the industry

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is a plus but not required.
