We are currently searching for a talented Drainage Engineer with strong organizational and technical skills, able to supervise and manage your own team and projects and eager to support our growing Southeast Region. This position will be based in Maitland, FL, and we will be considering hybrid opportunities for the right candidate and a growing career in the region.
The successful candidate will assist a team of Engineers, Planners, Scientists, and other Professional and Support staff on a variety of projects including drainage design, engineering studies, transportation infrastructure, and environmental and sustainable projects.
What you’ll be doing:
Collecting and analyzing data for inclusion in Project Plans and reports
Using computer engineering software to design stormwater management and storm drain systems, as well as soil erosion and sediment control systems
Analyzing and designing hydrologic and hydraulic models for Transportation Improvement projects
Permitting with different Regulatory and Water Management agencies
Assisting and preparing project plans using the latest CADD software including but not limited to MicroStation, OpenRoads, Civil3D, and/or AutoCADD, among others
Contributing to the preparation and/or modification of considerable scope and complexity engineering reports and calculations for a wide variety of projects
Preparing and assisting in the preparation of project construction details, quantities, cost estimates and project specifications
Reviewing project quantity estimates, details, and check calculations and drawings for compliance to project requirements
Preparing and assisting with the preparation of project schedules
Collaborating across multiple disciplines, subconsultants, and other professionals to successfully deliver quality projects within budget and schedule
Overseeing project design activities, supervising production efforts, and mentoring junior level support staff and other designers
Performing other professional, management, marketing and networking duties as assigned
What you need to have (or would make you stand out):
Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering (Master’s in water resources fields a plus)
Valid Professional Engineering Licensure (P.E.) in Florida preferred or the ability to acquire it within 6 months
+ 4 - 6 years of relative/progressive drainage/water resources and FDOT experience
Experience with MicroStation, Geopak, Civil3D, Storm CAD, ORD, ICPR, HEC-RAS, GIS and/or SUDA software
Previous FDOT Drainage design experience and strong knowledge of FDOT standards and procedures
Previous experience with Florida DEP and Water Management Districts
