PROJECT MANAGER FOR ARCHITECTURAL METAL / SIGNAGE / GLASS WITH EXCELLENT COMMUNICATION SKILLS IS NEEDED.

US EAST COAST SHIFT - 5:30 PM IST to 3:30 AM IST (Night Shift)

Job Description:

We are looking for a skilled project engineer for running projects at a high-end sign manufacturing facility. Most larger scale projects are performed for large General Contractors & CM's (I.e.: Tishman, Turner & Lend Lease). Applicants should be punctual, organized, and have a background in the signage industry, architecture, construction management or mechanical engineering. Multi-tasking is a must as we have multiple projects running through the plant at all times. We do work for some of the largest projects in the NYC Metro area and are looking for someone who can grow with the company and become a valuable asset for many years to come.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Take-off / Scheduling - Do a take-off of all signage drawings and understand the scope. Compare your take-off with the sales order to determine if any errors were made. Learn the job. Create a project schedule and Gantt chart. Create project control sheets to manage status.

2. Shop Drawings - Work with the art and engineering team to make shop drawings and get them approved through various revisions.

3. Purchasing - Get pricing from possible vendors run through estimates with a senior manager and purchase.

4. Samples - Coordinate the manufacture and delivery of all relevant samples as required by the contract drawings.

5. Fabrication - Put in the relevant work order with the factory to have the required signs produced.

6. Installation - Put in the relevant work order with a local installer to have all the signage installed. Take care to make sure all work is documented through work reports and all delivered product is signed for by the client.

Skill Requirements:

● Ability to read construction documents (plans, details, specs, etc…)

● Ability to interpret details from construction docs and shop drawings to calculate & place material orders and explain how to fabricate signs to others.

● General knowledge of the following: Submittals, engineering, metal fabrication with aluminum, steel, stainless steel & brass. Also, knowledge of plastics, wood, painting, screen-printing, etching, water-jet cutting, laser engraving & cutting, CNC milling, and LED illumination.

● Knowledge & proficiency in the following software programs: MS Excel, MS Word, Gmail & Google Calendar, QuickBooks 12.0 Contractor's Edition, Google Sketch-up, Auto Cad & Adobe Suite

● Must be able to type 50 words per minute

● Must be able to communicate with clients over the phone effectively to coordinate site work & create project schedules

Typical Project Flow:

1. Brainstorm and understand the project and review the schedule with the sales team and production manager.

2. Create a project schedule based on customer milestones and deadlines. Work with the production dept. to schedule work activities in the shop.

3. Assist in creating shop drawings with our graphic dept. Some drafting work may be required here.

4. Engineering (when required). Work with outside PE and submit PE stamped & sealed dwgs/calcs for signs of a structural nature. Projects requiring permits also require coordination with outside expeditors & inspectors.

5. Submitting all shop drawings samples, and prototypes to clients for approval, and making transmittals to accompany them.

6. Calculating material requirements for each project and working with purchasing to get materials in house as the project requires

7. Direct field survey team and determine survey objectives. Coordinating with other trades as required.

8. Oversee your projects in the shop and work with the Production Manager to ensure accuracy in fabrication (colors, finishes, etc…). Quality Control

9. Create a control sheet for projects of a larger nature where there are several sign types moving through the shop and the site simultaneously. Every sign on these projects needs to be accounted for and anything leaving the factory should be properly documented.

10. Coordinate with customer when the time to install arrives (make sure the site is ready, make field visits as needed, prepare in-house installers by keeping packing slips ready, make sure location plans are provided & elevations so our team knows exactly how to install each sign type.

11. See through punch lists issued by GC’s and architects to make sure open items are all addressed. Closeout documents as required (AS-BUILT DWGS & LEED documentation, etc…)

12. Tracking changes to the scope of work (Change Orders) and working with estimating dept. to make sure the extras get priced and following up for approvals with the client.
