Job Description:

The Mechanical Designer/Drafter will work under the supervision of the VP of Design Engineering, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, and design team leads with design department. The job duties will be drafting and detailing of mechanical component parts, assemblies, and installation drawings in the latest released versions of AutoCAD, Autodesk, Inventor, and Solidworks. In addition, the mechanical designer/drafter will also be responsible to create and maintain Bills of Material (BOM s) in Inc Product Data Management and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Work directly with mechanical and electrical engineers and lead designers to produce drawings form sketches, existing drawings, and electrical images.

Calculate tolerance stack-ups to verify design fit-up.

Design and draft parts based on written and verbal descriptions form mechanical and electric engineers, and lead designers.

Work closely with all departments in the company to ensure that the drawings convey the correct information and are error free.

Work form customer drawings, company drawings, government drawings, and specifications.

Use Inc Design Engineering design standards and ASME drawings standards as guidelines for design and drafting of component parts, assemblies, and installation drawings.

Essential Skills and Experience:

Must be able to read, interpret, use ASME drawings and drafting standards, and customer provided documentation.

At minimum must be a high intermediate/expert user in any 3D CAD program (Solidworks and Inventory) Solidworks experience preferred.

Ability to model complex shapes such as electrical components, complex sheet metal shapes, compressors, evaporator coils, and condenser coils.

Understand sheet metal functions: flanges, tapered flanges, folding and unfolding.

Ability to do exploded isometric views, section views, and detail views.

View dependent edits, BOM Stricture edits, ability to create and work with patterns, view specific layer control, and create view boundaries/broken views.

Proper uses and an understanding of weld symbols.

Experience in a Product Data Management (PDM) system where drawings and specification sheets are stored in a controlled manger.

Experience with ERP systems and experience creating items, bills of material and routers for bills of material.
