Position Summary:

The primary function of an assistant dispatcher is to work in conjunction with the Dispatcher/Operations Manager to direct and coordinate the ordering and delivery materials to customers in the day-to-day operations.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Maintain receiving, warehousing and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures

Complies with federal, state, and local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements and enforces adherence to requirements

Completes warehouse/delivery requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results

Coordinates with personnel to ensure that service to the customer meets an acceptable standard and generates positive feedback

Ensures compliance with the Safety and Loss Control Program

Cooperates with Safety director and GMS Risk Management representatives in the investigation and analysis of potential hazards to enforce methods and reduce losses of claims. Basic Qualifications:

GED required, some college preferred

Minimum of 2 years of dispatching experience Core Competencies:

Must be able to remain in a stationary position 60% of the time.

Will frequently move about inside the office and warehouse.

Must be able to operate basic office machinery.

Must be able to communicate with team and management and be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

Constantly working in office and warehouse environments. Required Cognitive Skills:

Must be able to problem solve and prioritize tasks.

Must be able to manage stress depending on deadlines and ongoing projects.

Must be able to multitask.

Must be able to quickly communicate solutions if problems occur.
