Medical Assistant

Actalent is hiring a Medical Assistant in Newport News!

Job Description: Perform patient intake to include medical history with accurate documentation in the electronic health record.

Patient triage to include vital signs (e.g., blood pressure, pulse, respirations, temperature, height and weight). Perform phlebotomy and ancillary clinical kit testing and specimen collection.

Maintain temperature logs, QA processes, OSHA policies.

Ensure accurate performance of EKGs.

Assisting physician with gynecologic, surgical and wound procedures/exams.

Completing pharmaceutical prior authorizations.

Phone triage to include communication with pharmacies for patient medication refills.

Performing Medicare Annual Wellness Visits.

Exam room set up/ cleaning/stocking Electronic input of patient lab/radiology orders.

Other duties as assigned.

Skills: Certified Medical Assistant, Registered Medical Assistant, Triage, Emr, Electronic health record Additional Skills & Qualifications: Must be actively CERTIFIED or REGISTERED as a Medical Assistant Will consider entry level - must have at least completed an externship Experience with Nextgen EMR is a huge plus Work Environment: Shift: Monday to Friday 7:45am - 5:00pm No weekends!
