Description
SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Shipping & Receiving foreman, driver is responsible for sharing driving duties with other drivers. Good driving record with valid drivers' license & our insurance company acceptance is mandatory. Must be able to go out of town up to one week at any given time.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
DRIVING:
Keep proper records of logs for trucks.
Loading and unloading of trucks on a daily basis.
General housekeeping of trucks and parking area on a daily basis.
Fueling of truck at end of day.
Making sure load is safe and secure SHIPPING:
General labor in shipping as needed. OTHER DUTIES:
Responsible for coordinating each daily assignment with supervisor.
Responsible for proper work attire. (Acceptable hygiene and grooming)
Completion of invoices, service orders, and other required paper work. ACCOUNTABILITY:
Follow instructions of shipping & receiving supervisor/foreman.
Communicates well with department foreman and other co-workers.
Reports accidents or any incidents to department foreman. JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Skilled in reading, writing and arithmetic in English.
Ability to read a map book or use GPS.
Ability to understand & carry out oral and/or written instructions.
Attendance is imperative because of customer preparations.
Excessive tardiness is not acceptable; it affects customer service & co-workers.
Familiar with Electronic Logging Devices (ELD) as required by D.O.T. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Driving - frequently up to 10 hours.
Simple grasping with both hands up to 10 hours.
Reaching below shoulders, 3-6 hours.
Reaching above shoulders, 1-3 hours.
Pushing, pulling with both hands, 3-6 hours.
Lift materials up to 60 pounds as many as 400 times a day.
Walking generally done on level concrete or asphalt surfaces, intermittent intervals up to 2 hours a day.
Working hours - Frequent workday 8-10 hours, occasional workday of 10-14 hours. Start time varies with each job size and travel considerations. Works days are typically Monday - Friday, however specific jobs may dictate work being performed on either Saturday or Sunday. WORKING CONDITIONS:
Truck - Heated and ventilated cab, low noise level, no smoking environment.
Outside environment - daily exposure to natural outside conditions. Various job requirements expose driver to early morning conditions, as well as afternoon. PLANT ENVIRONMENT:
Single story insulated metal building with 27' ceiling.
Temperatures from 60-90 degrees, no heating or air conditioning.
High bay lighting and sky lights, low noise level, exposure to welding flash. Requirements
