Position Purpose:

The import/Export Compliance Planner being a member of the Supply Planning team is responsible for managing the logistical plans and providing visibility to all international shipments; assisting with all import/export licensing activities, compliance with all US trade regulations including, but not limited to, U.S. Customs and FDA regulations. The role also develops and maintains the company’s import/export requirements and controls in the following areas: classification, valuation, quantity, origin declaration, documentation, ongoing process maintenance and other areas as identified below. The individual works with 3rd parties related to U.S. government agency issues and internally to ensure alignment with global trade initiatives for all import/export products.

This is a hybrid role that requires three days per week in our Stratham, NH corporate office.

Essential Job Functions Responsibilities:

Trade Compliance Assurance

Evaluate compliance compatibility level for new incoming products and classify raw materials, finished goods, packaging components, and equipment to determine importability while also assigning HTSUS, FDA Product Code and, when necessary, Schedule B; as well as any license requirements.

Manage and provide communication and paperwork for all FDA notification, custom audits and investigations request; monitor audit status until final disposition is reported and communicate status to internal departments as needed.

Act as a liaison to facilitate necessary documentation via Customs brokers and freight forwarders for submittal to U.S. government agenciesProcess Compliance Planning

Proactively review of U.S. import/export regulation changes to determine impacts on Lindt (USA); maintain proper record retention in accordance with government import/export regulations. Work with international vendors and affiliates to ensure import/export certificates and supporting documentation are in place.

Develop, analyze and audit processes, standard operating procedures and reference materials related to import/export standards in the Shipping, Receiving, QA and Warehouse departments, to ensure proper implementation and administration of compliance procedures.

Develop, implement, and update U.S. Government Regulation guidelines and regulatory materials to necessary company personnel including worldwide customer screening (Denied Parties Listing), audits, training, documentation and record keeping.

Directly support import/export planners with accurate shipment information such as arrival, departure, freight and export documentationImport/Export Planning

Analyze and accurately monitor all incoming international shipment status (delivery, custom clearance, detention and demurrage calculation and charges) in conjunction with the third party freight company. Review incoming volume while assessing constraints and conduct a weekly meeting with respective warehouses.

Receive and audit all import invoices to support Account Payable for vendor invoice and billing discrepancies.

Lead contact for special shipment needs to ensure best on-time product delivery and process owner of all insurance claims, report updates to internal stakeholders.

Directly support import/export planners in their roles, including order processing and leading continuous improvement projects.Requirements

Qualifications Requirements:

Experience:

3-5 years of international shipping experience

Experienced with international trade compliance, customs brokerage

Working experience with U.S. Government agencies such as FDA, CBP or USDASkills Knowledge:

Demonstrated proficiency with supply chain

Knowledge of warehouse practices and processes

Skilled in transportation carrier relationship and lane rate analysis

Can conduct root cause analysisEducation:

Bachelors degree required (preferred in International Supply Chain)Other Requirements:

License custom broker/training

Certified U.S. Export Compliance Officer

Travel 5%

Total Rewards:

Compensation Range: $65,000 – $83,000

Lindt USA’s salary range reflects market rates based on our size, revenue, and location. Starting pay is determined using a wide range of factors including, but not limited to, job-related skills, knowledge, and experience as well as market conditions. A bonus and/or long-term incentive may be included as part of this compensation package.
