Reporting to the SVP of IT Operations, the Network Engineer 1 is a team member who is responsible for the monitoring, analyzing, optimizing and remediation of circuits and associated equipment within the company’s Cloud infrastructure. The successful applicant will assist in accessing, updating, tracking, problem determination of connectivity and level-3 support. This is a hands-on IT infrastructure position in a dynamic and fast paced environment.

About the role:

• Active involvement with Fortinet deployment and administration.

• Assist with design, deploy, and maintain cloud and on prem network infrastructure plus various application environments related to network technology. VoIP

• Utilize circuit monitoring to ensure network performance and availability.

• Generate periodic reports of circuit availability to management and external teams.

• Identify and work with other groups to manage advanced network connectivity issues.

• Evaluate, recommend, and implement strategies for growth and scalability.

• Provide ongoing support, maintenance, and training on implemented platforms.

• Provides leadership to identify, manage risks, and resolve circuit issues in a team environment.

• Create and maintain stats alongside ticket information for all circuit problems.

• Work independently with little supervision on day-to-day tasks, receiving general instructions on new assignments.

• Work with SOC to review security events for issues and take appropriate action. Strong ability to use this data to open and support vendor tickets.

• Review current implementations and upgrade existing sites following network security best practices.

• Continually research new technology and industry trends.

• Commitment to quality customer service.

• Support a 24x7x365 environment.

• Participate in on-call rotation.

• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

We are looking for candidates who possess the combination of the following achievements, skills and behaviors:

• 4+ years of experience in an enterprise IT environment.

• 4+ years working with circuits and related equipment, focus on Fortinet equipment a must.

• 3+ years working on a helpdesk or group environment, supporting circuits.

• Coordinate platform updates to maintain a stable and secure posture.

• Experience using a central network management tool for auth and configs.

• Strong ability to support a remote work force in a distributed environment.

• 2 years working in a cloud environment.

• 2 years of virtualized enterprise platform exposure.

• 2+ years infrastructure monitoring solutions

• Develop and follow security best practices in a Cloud environment.

• Understanding SLAs to support Cloud Infrastructure

• Excellent time management, crisis management, organizational skills, and problem-solving skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to track support tickets and stats.

• Commitment to keeping up with cloud workshops / education.

Experience / Knowledge in the following is a plus:

• SD WAN

• MPLS

• Windows

• AWS or Cloud administration.

• Network Access Control

• Fortinet or other Cisco compatible brands Access Switches, AP and WLC

• Applicable IT certifications, such as CCNA, CCNP, Network+
