Dr. Sam’s Veterinary House Calls is looking for an experienced Veterinary Technician/Nurse who is goal oriented, enthusiastic, and self-motivated. Someone who places a priority on helping to deliver high quality medicine to our patients and a positive relationship to our clients. Our small team-oriented practice focuses on low stress handling to the benefit of our patients, clients, and staff. Technician/Nurse MUST have experience with anesthesia and be able to assist Veterinarian with surgeries/procedures, coordinating animal care, and monitoring animal recovery.
Job Summary
The Veterinary Technician/Nurse will be primarily responsible for assisting veterinarians, managers, and other support staff in all duties relating to the veterinary care of animals within our practice (in clinic or on the road). Veterinary Technician/Nurse must have a broad knowledge of animal science, medications (including a knowledge of pharmacology), and MUST have experience in surgery setting (monitoring anesthesia/patient recovery). Veterinary Technician/Nurse must be comfortable with properly holding animals to assist doctors and/or other technicians.

Maturity, good judgement, and professional appearance including wearing neat and clean uniforms.
Physical strength and ability to lift and carry a pet or other object weighing up to fifty (50) pounds.
The knowledge to assist doctor in a surgical setting…including anesthesia monitoring, safe patient anesthesia recovery, cleaning/sterilizing surgical equipment. RESPONSIBILITIES (not limited too)
Triage pets upon arrival to the clinic
Know or be accepting of coaching for proper animal holding techniques.
Take vial signs and acquire proper blood samples.
Assist and monitor anesthesia for surgeries.
Keep accurate patient records.
Administer mediations correctly.
Loading and unloading clinic vehicles.
Properly restock company vehicles.
Dr. Sam’s Veterinary House Calls is a full-service Veterinary practice with a standing clinic located in the Lehigh Valley (Allentown area) in eastern Pennsylvania. Our medical care encompasses everything from new puppy/kitten exams, to sick pets, to hospice care. We utilize a variety of portable diagnostic equipment (including mobile radiographs). Working in the home allows us to foster close patient and client relationships, while our clinic allows us the option to see patients in clinic and to perform surgeries and procedures.
