Northrop Grumman has an exciting opening for a Manager Mechanical Engineering 3 to join our team in Plymouth, MN.

Location:

This position requires on-site support. Selected candidate will need to be within commuting distance to our site in Plymouth, MN. Relocation assistance may be available if selected candidate is not local.

Responsibilities of this role:

This position will lead Mechanical Engineering department supporting Northrop Grumman Armament Systems. The group is for comprised of three teams, Mechanical Engineering, Structures and Materials, and Mechanical CAD Engineering. This team is focused on design and development of mechanical systems for a variety of weapon systems and ammunition throughout the lifecycle, with the primarily responsibility of supporting product development. This position will lead through managers to support and develop the diverse team to achieve strategic objectives.

Specific responsibilities and desired experience include:

Maintain open communication amongst the team facilitating collaboration and continuous improvement.

Support the teams with feedback and oversight.

Define, develop, execute, and improve department training plans and training content as well as identify and facilitate development opportunities.

Drive technical excellence in a dynamic product development environment.

Utilize communication skills across a broad spectrum of internal and external stakeholders.

Possess skill to manage technical teams in mechanical engineering, analysis, materials, NDT, and CAD domains.

Ensure adherence to established engineering processes.

Identify and mitigate technical risks.

Balance group workload and staffing requirements to meet current and future program needs.

Plan, execute, and manage department and capital budgets.

Maintain a “learning organization” where each team member is expected to teach and learn.

Prepare, review, and approve cost estimates and written technical proposals.

Experience with standard DoD program gate reviews such as System Requirement Review, System Functional Review, Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review, System Verification Review, and Production Readiness Review.

Have depth of knowledge in US DoD product development and acquisition approaches.

Experience with fast paced development and production.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree with 12 years of experience, a Master's degree with 10 years of experience, or a PhD with 8 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or closely related discipline.

Minimum of 3 years of experience in leading, developing, and reviewing direct reports.

Exceptional communication skills (verbal, written, presentation) across all levels of the organization.

Knowledge of hiring, staffing, engineering metrics, training resources, processes, and tools.

Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret level security clearance.

Desired Qualifications:

Active DoD Secret Clearance.

Master's degree in Engineering or STEM discipline.

Understanding and utilization of Models Based Systems Engineering tools and datasets.

Experience leading and implementing significant cross-functional projects/process improvements.

Experience leading through others as a manager of managers.

Knowledgeable in all aspects of the engineering development lifecycle.

Experience with managing ammunition development, qualification, and transition to production programs.

Salary Range: $156,800.00 - $235,200.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
