Position Summary

This individual in this position will perform, result, report and evaluate all diagnostic laboratory testing processed and performed at University Health Center independently, accurately and in a timely manner. Additional Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification

Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science or related field and has satisfied the academic requirements of the State of Georgia Laboratory Licensure Law, chapter 290-5-29-.06. Medical Technologist (MT)/Medical Laboratory Scientisted (MLS) (ASCP-certifed) or equivalent. Two years of pertinent clinical laboratory experience as a medical laboratory scientist.

Preferred: Electrocardiograms and Phlebotomy qualifications preferred. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to communicate effectively with patients, visitors and employees within the organization. Physical Demands

-Able to see objects closely, as in reading and microscopy.

-Able to decipher color.

-Able to hear normal sounds, as in answering telephone.

-Able to give and receive verbal commands.

-Able to push, pull or lift objects with minimum effort continuously, moderate effort frequently, and maximum effort occasionally.

-Able to sit, stand, or remain on feet for 50 minutes consecutively, 8 hours per shift.

- Able to perform motor skills. Is driving required to perform essential duties outlined in this position? (This does not include infrequent trips) The successful candidate would have to provide proof that s/he has a valid driver's license when offered employment.
